The 7th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference is an annual conference held at UCLA. The conference is a “daylong event [that] consists of various workshops that will educate, motivate, and provide attendees with the information on how undocumented youth can pursue a higher education and become agents of positivity in their own communities.” The event is free. Camp to Campus film–March 6th, 2013
On Wednesday morning, March 6th, at 10, the Levan Center for the Humanities is pleased to sponsor a showing of the movie “Camp to Campus.”
This movie is a documentary about first-generation college graduates who come from a migrant farm worker background. The movie, produced by CSUB, was paid for by a grant from the Cal Humanities Community Stories Fund and by CSUB. The subjects in the stories share life stories about making it to college. Some worked in the fields alongside friends, siblings, and parents. Director Fabian Euresti will be here to discuss the film, along with CSUB English professor Marit MacArthur, who was part of the team of faculty who applied for the grant.
Please note that community college students, along with local high school students, will have a chance to compete for cash prizes and scholarships to CSUB in an essay and video-essay contest related to the documentary. This essay contest will be explained at the beginning of the documentary, which lasts 90 minutes.
Deferred Action Workshop–November 26, 2012
Bakersfield College is hosting a Deferred Action Workshop from 6:00-8:00pm. The workshop will be held in room CC-5. There will be informed speakers to answer any of your questions regarding Deferred Action.

The 5th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference informs the community about undocumented student-related issues regarding legislation, fundraising, and advocacy. With the enactment of the CA Dream Act, this event is designed to empower undocumented youth to pursue their dreams and effect positivity in their communities.
